INFORMATION BULLETIN – Tasmanian Member Update / 24 April 2020

Dear Trainer,

We can provide you with a further update on our progress with Government.

The “Return to Racing” planning document, which sets out protocols that are designed to allow racing to resume on 15 May, was presented to the Premier, The Hon. Peter Gutwein MP, on 22 April.

At a meeting today between various industry representatives, and The Hon. Jane Howlett MP, the Racing Minister, we were advised the Premier was happy with the overall document, and is satisfied with the scope and security of the proposed protocols. The Premier has in turn, today referred this planning document to the Department of Public Health for their review and comment. We have been advised their commentary will be provided next week.

The collective efforts of the Thoroughbred Advisory Network (TAN), our race clubs and Tasracing have been pivotal in getting us to this point. We must also sincerely thank The Hon. Jane Howlett MP for her support, at both stakeholder level and in her communications with Government.

We are very close; a further update to trainers will be sent next week.
