Further to our previous communications to you, and following numerous meetings with Racing Victoria and the VJA regarding Racing Victoria’s WorkCover Policy, Racing Victoria has today announced an amendment to the Local Rules of Racing which will result in RV’s WorkCover agent accepting claims for apprentice jockeys injured in Official trials.
This change is effective immediately.
The ATA is pleased that this matter has been resolved, as it now provides clarity and permits trainers to allow apprentices to ride in Official trials moving forward.
