ATA RESPONDS TO QR’S PROPOSED RACE DATES SCHEDULE FOR 2010/11

ATA representatives met in March with Queensland Racing’s Chairman Bob Bentley and QR Racing Services Manager Paul Brennan to discuss the Proposed Race Dates Schedule for 2010/11.

Queensland Racing had written to the ATA on the Proposed Racing Schedule for 2010/11 with a plan to develop a strategic racing schedule that provides for long term growth and sustainability, in an endeavour to mitigate the impact of race field legislation through the maximisation of wagering returns on Queensland meetings.

Queensland Racing anticipated this could be achieved through the following core principles:

> Greater continuity with the racing schedule
> Optimisation of race meetings conducted at TAB venues
> Defined night racing strategy.

The meeting provided the ATA with a clearer insight into the proposed direction of racing in Queensland on a variety of issues and constructive feedback was given to QR to consider in their development plans for the 2010/11 racing season.
