The other notable achievements go to Toowoomba trainer Rex Lipp with Retrospect, Gold Coast trainer Helen Page with Power of Ed, Eagle Farm trainer Kelly Schweida with Plain Magic, Gold Coast Trainer Maryann Thexton with Warrior Girl and Eagle Farm trainer Robert Heathcote with Gundy Sun.
QUEENSLAND WINTER CARNIVAL GROUP 1 RACES FREE TO AIR
The ATA welcomes the news that Queensland’s most anticipated races will be showcased live on free to air television for the upcoming 2010 Winter Racing Carnival.
Brisbane Racing Club’s agreement with Channel 7 to televise live the AAMI Stradbroke Handicap and the Queensland Derby are positive steps towards promoting racing in Queensland to a National audience.
The Winter Carnival is a major stepping stone towards the riches of the Victorian Spring Carnival for local, interstate and international horses with countless Spring Champions kicking off their group racing careers in Brisbane.
We hope to see this televised coverage of our carnivals in Queensland grow to capture the essence of our states racing through full raceday coverage in future years giving greater exposure to our states trainers, owners, breeders and jockeys.
ATA REMINDS TRAINERS NATIONALLY OF RANDOM TESTING ON TRACK RIDERS
Trainers are reminded of the Australian Rule of Racing - AR 81A and AR 81B, relating to the random testing of track riders. Both AR 81A and 81B have been a Rule of Racing nationally for some seven years.
The Rules have been highlighted in recent times following the penalties imposed by RVL Stewards, and upheld by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board, on two track riders in Victoria. Both riders were found to have exceeded the 0.02% alcohol level for track riders, specified under Rule AR 81B.
The 0.02% alcohol level is the official national workplace standard which has been adopted by the ARB into an Australian Rule of Racing - AR 81B.
Trainers are also be aware of their obligations as employers to ensure that track riders are aware of and comply with AR 81B.
DRESS STANDARDS FOR RACEDAY STRAPPERS
Queensland Racing has asked that trainers be reminded to ensure that their raceday staff are attired according to Queensland Racing’s dress standard regulations for race days:
> Closed in respectable safe footwear e.g. no high heel open toe.
> Clean presentable jeans, pants or dress shorts.
> Clean presentable collared shirt or T-shirts no mid-drifts or gym singlets.
These regulations are in place to ensure that the dress standards of the industry participants as required by Queensland Racing are kept at a reputable and required standard and that workplace health and safety regulations are adhered too.
