Brett Scott Testimonial Lunch / Victoria / 08 Aug, 2011

On Tuesday 23 August at the Moonee Valley Racecourse, the racing industry will stage a Testimonial Lunch to celebrate the outstanding achievements of champion jumps jockey Brett Scott.

Following an innocuous fall in a high weight race at Yarra Valley on Cox Plate Day 2010, Brett’s condition progressively deteriorated to the point that he required major surgery on his spinal cord at the end of June 2011.

After almost 8 hours of surgery, scar tissue that was constricting Brett’s spinal cord was removed, and the long journey of rehabilitation has commenced. Brett is currently an in-patient at a rehabilitation unit undergoing extensive therapy.

With Workcover payments of only approximately $400 a week, this Testimonial Lunch will aim to generate sufficient funds to allow Brett to focus his energies on his rehabilitation over the next year without needing to be concerned with the financial burden that a long-term injury can deliver.

Brett has enjoyed success at the highest level in his chosen profession, winning feature jumps races around Australia, New Zealand and Japan. The Testimonial Lunch will be a great opportunity for all those that know and love Brett to come together and acknowledge his outstanding career.

Tickets cost $150 and include a 3 course lunch, beverage package and entertainment, with Bruce Clark as MC.
