Fair Work Australia has advised that a decision issued by the Minimum Wage Panel recently granted all employees (e.g. stablehands) a pay rise effective 1 July 2012.

As previously advised, Members are reminded that from 1 January 2010, an employees maximum ordinary time hours of work is 38 hours per week. We recommend that you review your payroll records, in particular to check compliance with pay advice requirements, wage rates, hours of work, superannuation and workcover.
Furthermore, Tax tables will change from 1 July 2012. Employers will need to use the new tax tables to calculate withholding amounts from these payments, even if the payment relates to a period before this date.

We further remind Members that as from 1 January 2010 it is a legal requirement for Employers to supply Employees with The Fair Work Information Statement as soon as possible after the commencement of employment. The statement provides basic information on matters that will affect their employment and is available to download by CLICKING HERE
