Gallops on the Flemington course proper, at Breakfast with the Stars (BWTS) on Tuesday 25 October, will be strictly limited to horses engaged in Group 1 races during the 2011 Melbourne Cup Carnival.
This decision follows consultation with Flemington trainers, after last years’ BWTS, regarding significant wear to the course proper in the lead up to AAMI Victoria Derby Day.
To cater for two year olds wishing to trial down the straight prior to the 2011 Melbourne Cup Carnival, the Club will allow two-year-olds who will race at Flemington to trial down the straight on the Friday 23 September. If a horse trials down the straight but does not accept in a 2 year old race at Flemington that trainer will be charged $150 (+GST).
Horses engaged in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes will continue to be allowed to gallop on the course proper on the Tuesday prior to the race, that being Tuesday 27 September 2011.
All nominations for two-year-olds to trial on Friday 23 September are to be submitted no later than 9:30am on 22 September 2011 to Flemington Training Tracks Manager, Russell McCann on 0425 730 224.
