Following the Annual Wage Review 2015-16 Decision issued by the Expert Panel on 31 May 2016, the Fair Work Commission has advised of an increase to the minimum wage rate. That decision means that all employees (e.g. stablehands) will have a pay rise effective 1 JULY 2016.
The Australian Trainers’ Association (ATA) will shortly mail the following information to ATA Members which you will receive prior to the determination taking effect.
Included in the mailer referred to above, ATA Members will be provided with a copy of the New Wage Rates and Allowances that apply from the first full pay period on or after the 1st July 2016.
ATA RECOMMENDED TRAINING FEES & RACEDAY ATTENDANCE FEES
The ATA will soon have available for Members the updated Recommended Training Fees and Race Day Attendance Fees.
Please note: These Fees are provided as a guide only for Trainers to take into consideration when reviewing their own circumstances and operational costs. Information about these Fees will be available to Members either via login to the ATA’s Website or by contacting this office direct for assistance.
RACECOURSE ATTENDANCE ALLOWANCE FOR EMPLOYEES
Every employee who is required to attend a race meeting must be paid a Racecourse Attendance Allowance under the Horse & Greyhound Training Award 2010 (HGTA). For further information on implementing this allowance contact the ATA for assistance.
THE FAIR WORK INFORMATION STATEMENT
Members are reminded of the legal requirement for Employers from 1 January 2010 to supply Employees with The Fair Work Information Statement as soon as possible after the commencement of employment. The statement provides basic information on matters that will affect their employment and is available by CLICKING HERE
SUPERANNUATION REMAINS AT 9.5%
ATA Members are advised that Superannuation (SGL) will remain at 9.5% from 1 July 2016.
A copy of the Nationwide Superannuation Fund (NSF Super) Newsletter - Winter 2016 edition will be mailed to ATA Members shortly.
NSF Super is a Superannuation Fund named within the Horse and Greyhound Training Award 2010.

Information relating to Tax Tables for the 2016/17 income year are available at www.ato.gov.au/taxtables
The ATA recommends that Members review their payroll systems and records, in particular to check compliance with pay slip requirements, wage rates, hours of work, superannuation and workcover.
