We are delighted to announce that late last week, Tabcorp formally announced the extension and upgrade of their sponsorship arrangement with the Australian Trainers’ Association (ATA).
Press Statement Extract from Tabcorp:
Tabcorp’s Chief Operating Officer – Wagering & Media, Craig Nugent said “The new agreement is a natural fit for Tabcorp. This is the third year of our partnership with the ATA. We are proud to support racing industry participants”
To take immediate effect, the new arrangement, which will again operate nationally, provides significant increased financial support. In return, there will be greater promotion of the sponsor by the ATA, including increased visibility through naming rights for race events and functions the ATA will roll out for the balance of 2016, leading into 2017.
Tabcorp is indisputably Australia’s leading wagering organisation. With a workforce exceeding 3,000, their household brands linked to racing include TAB.COM.AU, Luxbet, Sky Racing and Sky Sports Radio. Since the organisation was created in 1994, their activities have generated more than $8bn of return to racing, with some $773m in the last financial year (F14/15) alone. As a joint venture partner with the industry in many States, these returns underpin everything; from prize money paid to Trainers, Owners and Jockeys, to developing racing infrastructure, through to the people employed to manage our racing administration and operations. In addition, and as part of Tabcorp’s commercial objective to continually grow wagering revenue year on year, they also play a key role promoting racing throughout the year.
From an industry perspective, there needs to be a better understanding of the role Tabcorp plays in racing. Equally, their financial contribution to the racing industry each year should not be taken for granted – rather it should be applauded and acknowledged publicly, and broadly, by all industry participants.
Finally, to our members, we encourage you to personally promote awareness amongst your owners, clients and staff of the role of Tabcorp and the industry wide benefits generated, which in turn racing participants and enthusiasts alike have enjoyed for many years, and will hopefully continue to do so, for many more to come.
