INFORMATION BULLETIN – Trainer Consultation Sessions / Victoria / 12 Jan, 2016

Dear Member,

You will have received an email last week from Racing Victoria (RV) advising of four Trainer Consultation Sessions (“the Session”), to be run in conjunction with the Australian Trainers’ Association (ATA), planned for February 2016.

The date and location for each session is;

> Thursday 04 Feb @ Benalla Racecourse

> Tuesday 09 Feb @ Bendigo Racecourse

> Monday 15 Feb @ Mornington Racecourse

> Tuesday 16 Feb @ Ballarat Racecourse

Frequently, our regional members express concern that they do not have enough opportunity to access the industry decision makers, and to debate key matters that effect racing in this state. Taking this on board, the ATA approached RV late last year and requested their agreement to run a number of joint seminars targeting regional Victoria. The content for each session is being developed between RV and the ATA, and will include general racing matters with application to all trainers across the state e.g.: programming & handicapping, integrity issues, etc., together with matters specific to the region in question e.g.: race course infrastructure and regional planning.

RV has thrown absolute commitment behind this concept, best demonstrated by the fact senior departmental heads – Bernard Saundry, CEO, Jamie McGuinness, Infrastructure, Greg Carpenter, Racing, Terry Bailey, Stewards and Kirra Fitzgerald, Welfare, will form their panel of presenters.

We urge all members to take advantage of this opportunity. Importantly, note the February sessions are a pilot. Post 16 February, we will review what worked well and what we need refine, so we can impart this into future presentations planned for alternative regional locations in the back half of 2016. So, if you are unable to attend a pilot presentation on this occasion i.e.: Mildura is a long way from Ballarat, then do not worry, you will have another opportunity later this year.
