INFORMATION BULLETIN – Victorian Prizemoney Members Update / Victoria / 07 Nov, 2016

Dear Member,

The prizemoney increases announced 1 October 2016 by Racing NSW for their metropolitan and provincial race meetings demands a swift response from our Victorian racing authority.

It is imperative we act quickly to protect our local racing industry for the financial well being and benefit of key participants - namely the owners, our jockeys and trainers. It is also vitally important that we maintain our position and thus reputation, as a premier racing state.

To support this proposition, the Australian Trainers’ Association (ATA), together with the Victorian Jockeys’ Association (VJA) and Thoroughbred Racehorse Owners Association (TROA), will present a joint submission to Racing Victoria Limited (RVL) later this month recommending a range of prizemoney increases for Victorian racing.

In recent discussions, RVL confirmed to the ATA that this matter is a high priority for them, and will be central to the agenda at their December 2016 Board meeting. The ATA has also verbally requested, and RVL has confirmed, they will produce a position statement and blueprint for action arising from this meeting.

We will keep all members up to date on this critical subject as matters unfold.

Kind Regards

Andrew Nicholl
