The Australian Trainers' Association Federal Executive and ATA Queensland Branch Committee are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of highly respected trainer and much valued ATA Member, Bruce McLachlan.
McLachlan, aged 67, has been one of Queensland’s most successful trainers over the last 20 years.
A trainer for more than 40 years, he prepared more than 3000 winners and won a record number of Brisbane training premierships.
He achieved his greatest thrill in racing earlier this year when in partnership with his son Jason, he trained the two-year-old Phelan Ready to win the Magic Millions Classic-Golden Slipper Stakes double.
Along with Phelan Ready, some of the nation's best horses in recent years came through McLachlan's stables including With Me, Virage De Fortune, Chortle, Planet Ruler, St Jude and Al Mansour - all Black Type performers.
Our sincere condolences are extended to his wife Lorraine and three sons, Jason, Grant and Ian.
